Open House will be Thursday, August 4th from 4:30-6:30. Please drop by to meet your child's homeroom teacher.
The first day of school is August 5th. Students need to be in their homerooms by 8:15, but you may drop your child off as early as 7:30. In fact, we encourage you to drop your child off early to decrease the anxiety and frustration that running late can cause. Students may also be ablse to take advantage of our early morning computer time. We urge you to follow our drop off/pick up guidelines. When everyone follows these procedures, it provides not only a safer method of dropping off/picking up students but a faster one.
A key to a successful school year is staying informed. Therefore, students should use their agenda to write down assignments and upcoming tests. The agenda is also a great way for parents and teachers to communicate. An assignment for every student should be to read nightly for at least twenty minutes, and we encourage parents to read with them as well. The cost for a planner is $5.00. Other items you may wish to purchase are the class t-shirt for $6.00, a recorder for $3.00, and a yearbooks for $13.
We look forward to a great year! See you at Open House. Click the Open House link here to see a message from Mrs. Black.
Lee County Elementary School prides itself on a family (fami"LEE") atmosphere. With an excellent staff of office employees, custodians, food service employees, and teachers, we are commited to providing the best for our students. Our PTO is a great way to get involved. Parent volunteers help with numerous events throughout the school year such as Family Nights, Book Fairs, Mistletoe Mall, and Field Day.
Our school council is also an important member of our family. We meet four times a year to discuss a variety of school topics. We are looking for two parents representatives. We will send home information about the election process once school has begun. Our partners of excellence, Dental Partners, Dr. Anna Veilands, Dr. Robert Moss, Lawn Barber, Lee Ledger, Renasant Bank, and Stardust Skate Center support or school in many ways as well.
This year Rachel McDowell will be joining our family. We are certainly excited about the addition of this teacher to our already outstanding faculty. Our teacher of the year is Sandra Nall. Mrs. Nall has been teaching math at LCES for seven years. She is an integral part of our school.
LCES third graders know that it is never too early to start planning for the future. Click on the teacher's name to see their class research project on a Georgia college.
"Literacy and reading ability are absolutely essential-they're the builing blocks on which all other educational attainment is built," says State School Superintendent Richard Woods. LCES encourages all our students to continue reading and learning during the summer months. The suggested summer reading goals for students grades 3-5 is eight chapter books. The GET GEORGIA READING Campaign offers free access to over 10,000 digital books at www.myON.com. Our Media Center will be open for students on Tuesday, May 31st and June 7th from 9:00-11:00 am.
