About LCES

We have a tradition of educational excellence. We are SACS accredited and a Georgia School of Excellence.

The school was moved from the original location on Starksville Street to Firetower Road during the summer of 2001. In the subsequent years, a complete school renovation has been completed.

The total population of our school is approximately 735 students with 79 faculty and staff.

Co-curricular activities are those, which students are involved by choice and which take place during or after the school day. These are activities that enrich the instructional program. LCES has the following co-curricular activities: Instructional Extension Program, Reading First for third grade, Character Education Program, 4-H for fifth grade, Partners in Excellence mentoring, fifth grade chorus and full time art and music. Special students needs are met by participation in compensatory programs such as Early Intervention Program for reading and math in all grades. Student Support Team (SST), school guidance and counseling, school nurse, mental health and health department offer students individual assistance in special needs areas.

Stakeholders are extremely involved with our school through a volunteer program, school council, partners-in-education, and PTO. The PTO sponsors our Spring Fling, Spell-a-thon, and homecoming float for the parade. Several committees are regulated directly through the PTO organization and have a great impact upon our school and students.

Our History

The present LCES is the former Lee County High School and then, Lee County Middle School. The school has been remodeled to accommodate elementary students. The locker rooms were removed and turned into storage rooms, bathrooms were added for fifth grade students along with a teacher's lounge. The band room was renovated to house two of our special education classes. One of the classrooms has a fully functioning kitchen to help teach life skills to the students. The science labs were remodeled to regular elementary classrooms. All of the student restrooms were remodeled for handicap accessibility and to accommodate elementary students. The student lockers were removed from the main hall to make moving through the building much easier. The students have cubbies in the classrooms to store books and other belongings. The floors and walls were repainted and retiled. The color scheme in the building reflects the system colors of red, white and black.
