KPS Music Times with Mrs. Allen……………….
Welcome to the Kinchafoonee Primary School Music Classroom! Students will explore music through singing, performing, playing instruments, composing music, dancing, as well as other fun expressions of music. In addition, students will learn musicianship and how to develop the expression of music within themselves while interacting with peers. KPS students will recognize and identify music symbols, read and notate music, listen to varied genres of music, as well as learn the history of music/musicians including those from Lee County such as Luke Bryan and Phillip Phillips! All music instruction at KPS is directly linked to Georgia Performance Standards for music and research-based approaches to music instruction.
According to the National Association for Music Education, “music impacts academic achievement and assist to shape the way our students understand themselves and the world around them.” A singing child is a happy child!

Each grade level will have a musical performance in which parents, family, and friends are invited to attend. Students at KPS enjoy performing (i.e. acting, singing, wearing costumes) before audiences as well as with their peers. Dramatic performances allow students to explore their creativity and imaginations. Detailed information about performances will be sent home specific to each grade level at a later date.
2018-2019 Tentative Performance Schedule is as follows:
Times: All performances begin at 9:00 or 10:00 a.m.
November 7-9, 2018 First Grade Veteran’s Day Program
December 6-8, 2018 Second Grade Musical “Elflandia”
May 2019 Kindergarten Play
As you may know, each child at KPS receives instruction in music. Therefore we are always in need of hand sanitizer, Kleenex, and Lysol wipes. If you are interest in donating any of these items, please send them to school with your student and specify to their homeroom teacher that they for the music room.
If you are crafty or artistic, please consider volunteering to assist with our set designs and costumes for our stage/play performances. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please notify Mrs. Allen!
We also are aware than many of our parents have backgrounds in music (i.e. singers, play an instrument). If you are interested in being a special guest performer for our students, please notify me via e-mail email@example.com! We would love to have you as our guest.
