Lee County Elementary School is pleased to announce its Teacher of the Year is Janie Deas. Mrs. Deas has proudly served as an educator for 20 years. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgia Southern University. Mrs. Deas continued her education through Nova Southeastern University where she obtained a Master's in Teaching and Learning and an Educational Specialist degree in the Educational Technology Management and Administration. Mrs. Deas also earned gifted endorsement. Currently, Mrs. Deas teaches all subjects to fifth graders.
While Mrs. Deas is phenomenal at teaching all subjects, her passion lies in teaching American History. She uses a plethora of resources bringing history alive for her students. Mrs. Deas is devoted to her profession, but more importantly, she is devoted to her students. She is the best at building relations with her students and parents.
This is not Mrs. Deas' first time being named Teacher of the Year. Her peers nominated he as Jeff Davis County's Teacher of the Year in 2011. Recently, she recognized at LCES as a PBIS Teacher of the Month for having a positive, encouraging attitude. She eagerly collaborates with other educators, parent, and administrators to plan, implement, and evaluate educational opportunities.
Mrs. Deas is married to Brent. They have three boys, Dylan, Devin, and Drake.
