The Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards (GELDS) form the foundation for Lee County Pre-K instruction. The GELDS are correlated to Georgia's Kindergarten Standards and to the Work Sampling assessment indicators, thus promoting a seamless educational program for early learning. (For more information see www.gelds.decal.ga.gov). The Learn Everyday Curriculum is used to enhance and supplement the GELDS.
Each class is equipped with sufficient quantities of child accessible books, math manipulatives, blocks, dramatic play accessories, opportunities for science exploration, writing materials and musical instruments. The classrooms have space to accommodate individual, small and large group instruction. There is an outdoor play area with equipment and supplies for exercising large muscles and developing balance and coordination. A daily one-hour rest period is also offered.
